B1 Slovak course level

This course is designed for students who have completed A2 Slovak and are ready to continue developing their skills at B1 level.

At B1, the focus shifts towards using Slovak more independently and confidently. You will learn to take part in longer conversations, describe experiences and events in more detail, explain your opinions, talk about plans and discuss a broader range of everyday topics.

You will expand your vocabulary and work with more advanced grammar and sentence structures, while consolidating what you learned at A1 and A2 and using it more accurately in spontaneous communication.

Lessons focus on speaking and practical use of Slovak, with grammar and vocabulary introduced in context and actively practised during class.

We use our own teaching materials, exercises and speaking activities. Everything covered during your lessons – grammar explanations, vocabulary, examples, exercises, notes and homework – is collected in a shared online document that remains available throughout the course.

You will study in a mini-group of 3–6 students, ensuring plenty of speaking time and an interactive learning environment.

The course includes a final review and progress feedback session, where you will review key material and receive individual feedback from your teacher on your progress and recommended next steps.

Learning a language is a journey, not a single course.

This Lower B1 course is the first stage of the B1 level and is designed for students who have already completed A2.

Our courses follow a structured CEFR learning sequence based on the Krížom-krážom curriculum developed by Comenius University in Bratislava. We use it as a roadmap to ensure that grammar, vocabulary and communication skills are covered in a logical order.

One Slovak Friends course typically covers approximately 3–4 learning units, depending on the course format, frequency and pace of the group.

Your learning journey may look like this:

    … → Mid A2 → Upper A2 → Lower B1 → Mid B1 → Upper B1 → B2 → …

When your course ends, your group can continue with the next B1 course from exactly where you finished. You enrol in one course at a time, so there is no need to commit to the entire B1 level in advance.

If you need to reach a particular CEFR level by a specific date – for example, for an exam, work or study requirements – a standard course once or twice a week may not be intensive enough. Contact us and we can recommend a more intensive study option.
