Class – Mid A1
Teacher:
Lili
Days:
WEDNESDAY
Time:
05:30 PM
Duration:
60 min
Date:
September 23 – December 16, 2026
This course is designed for students who already have a solid foundation in A1 Slovak and are ready to continue developing their language skills.
You will expand your vocabulary and learn to communicate in a wider range of everyday situations, including daily life, free time, food, shopping, places, travel and common social situations. At this stage, we also focus more on grammar – developing your understanding of verb conjugation, cases and other important grammatical patterns, while helping you build longer and more natural sentences.
Lessons focus on speaking and practical use of Slovak, with grammar and vocabulary introduced step by step and practised in context.
We use our own teaching materials, exercises and speaking activities rather than following a traditional textbook in class. Everything covered during your lessons – grammar explanations, vocabulary, examples, exercises, notes and homework – is collected in a shared online document that remains available to you throughout the course.
You will study in a mini-group of 3–6 students, ensuring plenty of speaking time and individual attention in a supportive, interactive atmosphere.
By the end of the course, you will be ready to continue seamlessly with the next A1 course, building on what you have already learned and gradually becoming more confident and independent in Slovak.
The course includes a final review and progress feedback session. During the last class, you will review key material and receive individual feedback from your teacher on your progress and recommended next steps.

Learning a language is a journey, not a single course.
This Mid A1 course continues from Lower A1 and takes you further through the A1 level, building on the grammar, vocabulary and communication skills you have already developed.
Our courses follow a structured CEFR learning sequence based on the Krížom-krážom curriculum developed by Comenius University in Bratislava. We use it as a roadmap to make sure all important topics are covered in a logical order.
One Slovak Friends course typically covers approximately 3–4 learning units, depending on the course format, frequency and pace of the group. Completing one course therefore represents progress within a CEFR level rather than completion of the entire level.
Your learning journey may look like this:
Full Beginner → Lower A1 → Mid A1 → Upper A1 → Start A2 → Lower A2 → Mid A2 → Upper A2 → …
When your course ends, your group can continue with the next course from exactly where you finished. You enrol in one course at a time, so there is no need to commit to the entire level in advance.
If you need to reach a particular CEFR level by a specific date – for example, for an exam, work or residency requirements – a standard course once or twice a week may not be intensive enough. Contact us and we can recommend a more intensive study option.
