A1 Slovak course level

This course is designed for students who have already completed the first part of A1 and are ready to continue building their Slovak.

We use our own teaching materials, exercises and speaking activities rather than following a traditional textbook in class.

Everything covered during your lessons – grammar explanations,
vocabulary, examples, exercises, notes and homework – is collected in a
shared online document that remains available to you throughout the course.

By the end of the course, students will have built a solid
foundation in Slovak and will be ready to continue with the next
A1 course.

You will study in a mini-group of 3–6 students, which ensures plenty of speaking time for everyone and a supportive, interactive atmosphere.

By the end of the course, you will be ready to continue seamlessly in a follow-up course, gradually progressing toward conversational Slovak.

You will expand your vocabulary and learn to communicate about everyday activities, free time, food and drinks, shopping, places around town and common daily situations.

You will continue developing the grammar needed to create more complete sentences, including verb conjugation, plural forms, the accusative case, prepositions and basic case patterns

The course includes a final review and progress feedback session. During the last class, you will review key material from the course and receive individual feedback from your teacher on your progress, strengths, areas to improve, and recommended next steps.

Learning a language is a journey, not a single course.

This Lower A1 course continues from our Full Beginner course and takes you further through the A1 level, building on the grammar, vocabulary and communication skills you have already learned.

Our courses follow a structured CEFR learning sequence based on the Krížom-krážom curriculum developed by Comenius University in Bratislava. We use it as a roadmap to make sure all important topics are covered in a logical order.

One Slovak Friends course typically covers approximately 3–4 learning units, depending on the course format, frequency and pace of the group. Completing one course therefore represents progress within a CEFR level rather than completion of the entire level.

Your learning journey may look like this:

    Full Beginner → Lower A1 → Mid A1 → Upper A1 → Start A2 → Lower A2 → Mid A2 → Upper A2 → …

When your course ends, your group can continue with the next course from exactly where you finished. You enrol in one course at a time, so there is no need to commit to the entire level in advance.

If you need to reach a particular CEFR level by a specific date – for example, for an exam, work or residency requirements – a standard course once or twice a week may not be intensive enough. Contact us and we can recommend a more intensive study option.
